Pakistan on Thursday said that they have always taken the initiative to resolve the Kashmir conflict, however, India never responded positively. Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria in his weekly press brief said that his country desires international community to play its role in resolving the Kashmir conflict. “Pakistan has always taken initiative in view of resolving the conflict, it is India which has never responded positively on Pakistan’s call to resolve Kashmir conflict,” Geo News quoted Zakaria. “There are three parties to the conflict; Pakistan, India and Kashmir,” he said. Zakaria also confirmed that Pakistani High Commissioner had a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, however, he clarified that during the meeting Kulbhushan Jadhav was not discussed. Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood met Sushma Swaraj in October. Meanwhile, The Government of India appointed ex-Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma as a interlocutor to start a dialogue for sustainable peace in the valley. Sharma had said that he is ready to talk to anyone including the Hurriyat leaders. However the Joint Resistance Leadership have rejected New Delhi’s offer of talks calling it a time buying tactic. They also said that engaging with Sharma will undermine the just and legitimate cause of Kashmir, which is internationally accepted.
